Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for maintenance of a new box culvert along Riverview Drive east of 18th Place. Further request an exemption from the indemnification prohibition set forth in Phoenix City Code section 42-18 for a governmental entity pursuant to Phoenix City Code section 42-20.

 

Report

Summary

The Street Transportation Department has a roadway improvement project currently under construction on Riverview Drive from 18th Place to 22nd Street over the existing ADOT outfall channel. The project scope includes the construction of a new concrete box culvert within ADOT right-of-way. The agreement establishes the City's maintenance responsibilities for the infrastructure improvements within ADOT right-of-way which includes the new structure along with grafitti and trash removal in the area. The structure number for the new box culvert is 11549.

 

Contract Term

The agreement term shall be for successive five year periods from the effective date and may be amended upon mutual written consent of both parties.

 

Financial Impact

The Street Transportation Department has funds within its operating budget to address the IGA maintenance requirements as they arise.

 

Location

The box culvert is located along Riverview Drive, approximately 1,000 feet east of 18th Place.
