Scorpion Refuse Truck Aftermarket Parts - Contract Recommendation (Ordinance S-45951)

 

Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a contract with Cohone Technologies Sales and Service, LLC to supply Scorpion refuse truck aftermarket parts and accessories on an as-needed basis in a contract amount not to exceed $125,840. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

Summary

The Public Works Department maintains over 270 refuse vehicles, 83 of which are Scorpion model refuse trucks used for solid waste operations. This equipment is used for daily trash collection, bulk trash collection, and disposal of trash and recyclables for more than 400,000 households, as well as over 100 parks and other City-owned properties. This contract will help to provide required parts and accessories that are distributed by Cohone Technologies Sales and Service, LLC for critical maintenance and repair of equipment.

 

Procurement Information

In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, normal competition was waived as the result of a Determination Memo citing that due to special circumstances and time restriction, this contract will allow non-proprietary Scorpion refuse truck parts and accessories to be purchased to decrease the downtime of essential equipment.

 

Contract Term

The one-year contract term will begin on or about Sept. 1, 2019, for a total contract term of one year.

 

Financial Impact

This contract will have an aggregate value not to exceed $125,840. Funds are available in the Public Works Department's budget.
