Title

Debris Caps Contract (Ordinance S-45809)

Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute an amendment to Contract 139885 with SW Services LLC to add additional funding for the purchase of debris caps. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item. The additional funds will not exceed $650,000.

Report

Summary

The Water Services Department uses debris caps to prevent dirt, mud and rubbish from passing into valve housings and pipes. The reason for this amendment is to accommodate the accelerated replacement of debris caps required during resurfacing efforts that are part of the City’s Accelerated Pavement Maintenance Program.

Financial Impact

The initial contract for debris caps was executed for a fee not-to-exceed $1,650,000. This amendment will increase the contract value by $650,000, for a new total contract value not-to-exceed $2.3 million. Funding is available in the Water Services Department's Operating and CIP budgets.

Concurrence/Previous Council Action

The City Council approved Contract 139885 (Ordinance S-41351) on Dec. 17, 2014.
