Acquisition of Real Property for the 3rd Avenue, Coolidge to Mariposa Streets, Street Improvement Project (Ordinance S-44963)

 

Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to acquire all property rights required for the 3rd Avenue Street Improvement Project by donation, purchase within the City's appraised value, or by the power of eminent domain, and to dedicate land with roadway improvements to public use for right-of-way purposes. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

Summary

The 3rd Avenue Street Improvement Project will provide roadway improvements along the east side of 3rd Avenue between Coolidge and Mariposa Streets. Acquisition of property rights along the east side of 3rd Avenue between Highland Avenue and Coolidge Street is required to construct right-of-way improvements, which will enhance the road and sidewalk conditions for pedestrians. Project improvements include paving, curb, gutter, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks. This project was requested and approved by residents of the Pierson Place neighborhood to improve connectivity with the Grand Canalscape Project.

 

The properties impacted by this project are identified in Attachment A.

 

Financial Impact

The project will be funded with Arizona Highway User Revenue (AHUR) funds available in the Street Transportation Capital Improvement Program budget.
