Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to extend the contracts with Electrical Power Systems and Southwest Energy Systems (Contracts 134510 and 134512) for 12 months from Sept. 1, 2017, to Aug. 31, 2018, to allow for a new solicitation. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

 

Summary

The contracts with Electrical Power Systems and Southwest Energy Systems are used for on-site testing, calibration, and repairs for various low- to medium-voltage electrical equipment. These services ensure compliance with National Electrical Code regulations. Additional time is necessary for the departments to conduct a new solicitation.

Financial Impact

The addition of $1,349,000 is necessary for the contract extensions and to allow the Public Works Department to utilize the contracts. Funds are available in the Aviation, Public Works, and Water Services departments' operating budgets.

 

Concurrence/Previous Council Action

These contracts are a result of Invitation for Bids (IFB) 13-003 awarded by the Phoenix City Council on Sept. 5, 2012, with an aggregate value of $1,270,094, and an end date of Aug. 31, 2017. With the 12-month extension, the contracts will have an aggregate value of $2,619,094.
