Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a contract with H&E Equipment Services, Inc. for the purchase of two ladder fire trucks. This contract will have an aggregate expenditure of $2,500,000. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

Summary

The City of Phoenix Fire Department currently operates 21 ladder trucks in its active fleet. The department is seeking to replace two units experiencing excessive downtime which has hindered the department from providing service to the residents as first responders on emergency calls. Replacing these two trucks will reduce maintenance costs and allow the Fire Department to provide a high level of service to the community.

 

Procurement Information

In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, normal competition was waived as a result of a determination memo - without competition. This is an urgent request to replace two aged fire truck units that are experiencing excessive downtime.

 

Contract Term

The contract term will start upon Council approval for the one-time purchase of two ladder trucks.

 

Financial Impact

Expenditures will not exceed $2,500,000 over the life of the contract. Funds are available in the Fire Department's budget.
