Report

Summary

The Public Works Department is seeking to purchase one Gradall XL5100 self-hauling excavator for the Street Transportation Department. This equipment will be used for storm response, flooding in roadways, and cleaning washes, culverts and drainage channels. Gradall is the only manufacturer that has a self-hauling excavator that can travel at highway speeds, eliminating the need for extra equipment such as a hauling trailer to transport the unit. Currently, there are no other manufacturers in North America that produce equipment that match the specifications being requested by the ordering department and are permitted for travel on streets in the United States.

Procurement Information

In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, normal competition was waived as the result of a determination memo citing sole source. Mardian Equipment Company, Inc. is the sole source dealer for the State of Arizona for Gradall equipment.
