Summary
On Jan. 6, 2023, the Office of Head Start mandated that all grantees develop an evidence-based infectious disease mitigation policy focusing on COVID-19. The policy must be approved by the grantee's governing board and include mitigation strategies, be responsive to community spread, provide precautionary measures, and include a communication plan to ensure staff and families are prepared to navigate the ongoing conditions (Attachment A).
Contract Term
The remaining year of the five-year contract term is from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. This request does not change the term of the contract.
Financial Impact
The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration of Children, Youth and Families. There is no impact to the General Fund.
Concurrence/Previous Council Action
The Infectious Disease Mitigation Policy was presented to the Head Start Birth to Five Policy Council on May 8, 2023.
