Description
Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to allow the Police Department to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Maricopa County for Scuba Diver training at Lake Pleasant Regional Park. Also request, under the authority of Phoenix City Code section 42-20, the City Council waive indemnification and liability requirements of Phoenix City Code section 42-18.

Summary
The Phoenix Police Department is equipped with a Dive Team who have specialized training in water search and rescues, including under water search and rescues in the lakes, rivers and canals throughout the City. Additionally, the team is often called by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team to assist their team(s) with searches in larger bodies of water such as Lake Pleasant where scuba training is essential.
The agreement will provide the Phoenix Police Dive team access to areas of Lake Pleasant designated specifically for scuba diving training.
Contract Term
The term of the agreement will be five years, commencing on the date it is fully executed.

There is no financial impact to the City.
