Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to utilize the National Purchasing Partners Cooperative Contract awarded as a result of solicitation 00000170, and to enter into a contract with L.N. Curtis and Sons for Urban Interface Fire Fighting Gear for the Fire Department. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item. The aggregate amount contract value will not exceed $32,000.

Summary

Urban Interface Fire Fighting Gear are an integral part of the Fire Department to accurately and efficiently fight brush fire operations. This equipment is critical to protecting homes and other areas that interface with open land and have a limited water supply available. Without these tools, the Phoenix Fire Department would be unable to protect structures, land and people from the threat of fire. In addition this equipment is a critical part of the Fire Department's effort to provide life safety services to the public and for use in critical incidents and complicated scenes.

 

Procurement Information

In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, a participating agreement is required when the City uses a cooperative agreement from another public agency. The contract was awarded through a competitive process consistent with the City's procurement processes, as set forth in the Phoenix City Code, Chapter 43. The National Purchasing Partners contract covers the purchases of Urban Interface Fire Fighting Gear and was awarded on June 19, 2017.

 

Contract Term

The five-year contract term shall begin on or about Sept. 1, 2019.

 

Financial Impact

The aggregate contract value will not exceed $32,000. Funds are available in the Fire Department's budget.
