Back-Up Ambulance Services Agreements (Ordinance S-53033) - Out of City

 

Description

Request authorization for the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into agreements with Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, Daisy Mountain Fire District, Peoria Fire-Medical Department, Scottsdale Fire Department, and Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department for reciprocal back-up ambulance services. Further request an exception to the indemnity and assumption of liability provisions of Phoenix City Code (PCC) Section 42-18 and allow for mutual indemnification pursuant to PCC Section 42-20 for public entities.

Summary

These agreements aim to clearly identify the responsibilities and actions for the provision of emergency transportation services in each other’s service areas to cover responses during times of peak overload, simultaneous emergencies, major emergencies and when resources are otherwise overtaxed.

 

Contract Term

The agreement will be for five years from the date executed, at which time it may be renewed for an additional period of five years.

There is no financial impact to the City.
