Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a contract with Aquatic Biosystems, Inc. to provide food supplies for the aquatic toxicity program at the 23rd Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant for the Water Services Department. Further request to authorize the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item. The aggregate value of the contract will not exceed $20,000.

Summary

The Water Services Department uses Algae and Yeast Trout Chow in the culturing of D. magna (water fleas) which are used to test for toxicity in fresh water. These food supplies are necessary to maintain the aquatic toxicity program at the 23rd Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant in support of regulatory compliance.

 

Procurement Information

Solicitation RFQ-1920-WES-218 was conducted in accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10. One quote was received from Aquatic Biosystems, Inc. and it was determined responsive:

 

Aquatic Biosystems, Inc.: $1,970.00

 

The quote from Aquatic Biosystems, Inc. is comparable to historic pricing. Therefore, the Procurement Officer recommends acceptance of the quote from Aquatic Biosystems, Inc. as the most responsive and responsible bidder that is the most advantageous to the City.

 

Contract Term

The contract term shall begin on or about Sept. 1, 2019, for a five-year term, with an end date of Aug. 31, 2024.

 

Financial Impact

The aggregate contract value is $20,000. Funds are available in the Water Services Department's Operating budget.
