Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to add the Phoenix Police Department to the Water Services Department contract with Agilent Technologies Inc., (3025842) for purchase of three Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometers and associated maintenance and supplies. The Water Services Department further requests authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

Summary

The Police Department Laboratory Services Bureau currently uses 12 Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometers to conduct analyses. It is a critical requirement of the Police Department that these instruments be maintained and in optimal working order. In addition to maintenance of existing equipment, the Police Department recently approved funding for purchase of three additional instruments and maintenance of these instruments. The Police Department is seeking approval to be added to the current contract that is managed by the Water Services Department.

 

Contract Term

The current contract with the Water Services Department became effective June 23, 2016, and has provisions for additional departments to be included under the contract.

 

Financial Impact

The aggregate contract value for the Police Department Laboratory Services Bureau will not exceed $1,050,973 (including applicable taxes) through contract expiration June 30, 2021. The Water Services Department’s current payment ordinance was previously approved for $950,000. Adding the Police Department to the contract will increase the not-to-exceed total to $2,000,973 for both the Water Services Department and the Police Department. The additional funds requested are available in the Police Department’s budget.
