Description

This report provides the City Council with information in response to a citizen petition submitted by Gregg Turner at the June 3, 2026, City Council Formal meeting regarding dedication of a crosswalk or pedestrian-controlled intersection at or near 25th Avenue and Greenway Road, Attachment A.

Summary

The petitioner requests the City Council to provide guidance and consideration and direct the appropriate departments to advise on the process, criteria and feasibility of dedicating the crosswalk or pedestrian-controlled intersection at or near 25th Avenue and Greenway Road in memory of a resident. 

 

Options for Council Action

A. Accept the petition.

B. Deny the petition.

C. Refer to the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Planning Subcommittee for further study and consideration.

 

Staff recommends denying the petition. The Street Transportation Department has not previously dedicated a crosswalk or pedestrian-controlled intersection to memorialize an individual. The City does not have an established process or criteria to take this type of action.
