Report

Summary

The goal of the BCJI Program is to reduce crime and improve community safety as part of a comprehensive strategy to advance neighborhood revitalization. The Police Department is eligible to apply under the planning and implementation grant category which funds place-based strategies designed to address chronic incidents of violent and serious crime within a specific area to promote neighborhood revitalization. The BCJI grant requires a broad cross-sector partnership team comprised of law enforcement, a local research partner, neighborhood residents and businesses, and other relevant stakeholders. If awarded, $150,000.00 of the grant funds would be available for the 9- to 12-month initial planning phase.  Once the granting agency approves the implementation plan, the remainder of the grant funds will be released to address the crime problems and revitalization efforts outlined in the plan.

Contract Term

Three years beginning Oct. 1, 2017, through Sept. 30, 2020.

Financial Impact

The Bureau of Justice Assistance will be granting up to eight awards for up to $1,000,000.00 each.  No matching funds are required. Cost to the City is in-kind resources only.
