Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a contract with Chemical Feeding Technologies (3023879) for chlorine valve actuator inspections and batteries. Further request to authorize the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

Summary

Chlorine valve actuators are specialized pieces equipment used on chlorine container valves to automatically shut off the valves in the event of a chemical leak. The inspections and subsequent certifications are necessary for public safety.

 

Procurement Information

In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, normal competition was waived as the result of a Determination Memo citing that Chemical Feeding Technologies is the sole source provider of this necessary service. Chemical Feeding Technologies is the exclusive certified representative for Halogen Valve Systems actuators in Arizona. No other company is authorized to sell or service Halogen products within this territory.

 

Contract Term

The term of this contract will commence on Aug. 1, 2017, for five years until July 31, 2022.

 

Financial Impact

The aggregate value of the contract will not exceed $185,000 for the life of the contract, with an estimated annual cost of $37,000. Funds are available in the Water Services Department's operating and Capital Improvement Program budgets.
