Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to approve the transfer of one 60-foot transit bus to the City of Tucson Public Transit Department (SunTran).

 

Report

Summary

The City of Tucson requested the transfer of an out of service 60-foot articulated bus from Phoenix for the purpose of evaluating the equipment for use on Tucson city streets. The articulated bus has exceeded its useful service life in the City's transit fleet and was slated for disposal during the first quarter of 2017. The City received approval from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the transfer of the bus and the remaining federal equity to SunTran. In consideration for the transfer, SunTran will assume any maintenance and operating costs going forward and any FTA obligations, expenses or salvage value at the end of their equipment evaluation process, and the City of Phoenix will have no further obligations in the future decommissioning and salvaging of the bus.

 

Procurement Information

In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, the Public Transit Department requests authorization to dispose of surplus property not needed by the department through a noncompetitive sale, and transfer the property to the City of Tucson, a public entity.

 

Financial Impact

The estimated salvage value of the equipment based on blue book reference is $13,000.
