Report

Summary

As part of former Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg's American Cities Initiative, the 2017 Mayors Challenge is intended to help city leaders across the United States to think big and uncover innovative solutions to today's most pressing problems. Whether it's diminishing budgets, the quickening pace of technology or the threat of climate change, this Initiative will provide cities the opportunity to describe their innovative and creative ideas and solutions. Bloomberg Philanthropies is offering $17.5 million in grants and technical assistance as part of the Initiative.

City staff plans to develop a sustainability-related concept and requests City Council authorization to work on this effort over the summer months, and in the Fall come back to the Sustainability, Housing, Efficiency and Neighborhoods Subcommittee to submit the concept for potential grant funding.
