Description

Request for a public hearing for a proposed text amendment to the zoning ordinance, Text Amendment Z-TA-5-20-7, amending Chapter 12, Section 1202.C. (Regulating Maps, Height Map) to amend the height provisions for a site located at the southwest corner of 1st and Jackson Streets. Staff recommends denial of Z-TA-5-20-7. If approved, the Height Map shall be updated as reflected in the proposed Ordinance. This file is a companion file to Z-26-20-7 and should be heard after Z-26-20-7.

Summary

The intent of this proposed text amendment is to amend Chapter 12, Section 1202.C. (Regulating Maps, Height Map) to increase the allowable height from a maximum of 80-140 feet to a maximum of 285 feet for a site located at the southwest corner of 1st and Jackson Streets.

HP Commission Action: The Historic Preservation Commission heard this item on Dec. 21, 2020 and recommended approval with a modification to the height maximum of 218 feet (1,300 feet MSL per the Airport Height Zoning Map) by an 8-1 vote.

PC Action: The Planning Commission heard the item on Jan. 7, 2021 and recommended approval, per the Central City Village Planning Committee recommendation by a 7-1 vote.
