Title
Chlorinator Equipment, Parts, and Services (Ordinance S-45790)
Description
Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute an amendment to Contract 139884, with MiscoWater, to provide Chlorinator Equipment, Parts and Services for the Water Services Department, for an amount not to exceed $420,000. Further request to authorize the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.
Report
Summary
The Water Services Department (WSD) requires additional funding to maintain the chlorination system which is used to disinfect water and wastewater. The parts and services are needed to meet requirements for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permits. The systems are over 25 years old and without the additional funding, WSD would not be able to perform preventive maintenance, upgrades and repairs of the existing systems, which would limit the ability to produce potable water and treat wastewater.
This amendment is necessary because there were unforeseen emergency purchases for repairs and system upgrades to ensure continued maintenance and operation of treatment and production facilities. This amendment will provide additional funds to the agreement.
Contract Term
This amendment will not affect the contract term. The contract term is effective until Dec. 31, 2019.
Financial Impact
The initial contract for Chlorinator Equipment, Parts, and Services was executed for a total fee not-to-exceed $1,375,000. Amendments to this contract increased the total contract by $725,000. This amendment will increase the total contract by $420,000, for a new total fee not-to-exceed $2,520,000. Funding for this amendment is available in the Water Services Department’s Operating budget.
