Description
Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a Distribution Design and Construction Contract with Salt River Project (SRP) for removal of overhead wire and utility poles from property for City Project 2333 West Sunrise Drive Demolition. Further request to grant an exception pursuant to Phoenix City Code 42-20 to authorize inclusion in the documents pertaining to this transaction of indemnification and assumption of liability provisions that otherwise should be prohibited by Phoenix City Code 42-18. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item in an amount not to exceed $6,185.70.

Summary
Ordinances S-47680 and S-47991 authorized the acquisition of 39.3 acres of real property for South Mountain Preserve and the designation of that property as “Mountain Preserve.” To restore the recently acquired preserve lands to natural Sonoran Desert flora, existing structures on the parcel have been demolished. This request will allow SRP to remove overhead power lines and utility poles on a property located at 2333 W. Sunrise Drive. This construction contract represents the cost for SRP to remove the overhead utility lines and utility poles.
Contract Term
The term of the contract will begin on or about October 15, 2025, and will expire when the project is completed and accepted.
Financial Impact
The contract will not exceed $6,185.70. Funding is available in the Parks and Recreation Department's Capital Improvement Program budget.
