Summary
While State Farm Stadium in Glendale hosted the Super Bowl game, downtown Phoenix was the epicenter of fan-related activities and ancillary events over multiple days including the Phoenix Convention Center, Symphony Hall, Margaret T. Hance Park, and the Footprint Center. Sky Harbor International Airport and the Valley Metro public transit system also supported Super Bowl week by moving thousands of visitors and residents to Super Bowl events. This marks the fourth time that the Greater Phoenix region hosted the Super Bowl. To ensure that Phoenix would shine under this global spotlight, the City established a Super Bowl Steering Committee, which was utilized to support the planning efforts of the NFL and Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee.
The City Super Bowl LVII Steering Committee includes representatives from multiple City departments to ensure citywide collaboration, communication and accountability in planning and coordination in critical areas of event planning, communications, permitting, operational logistics, and incident management. The Steering Committee structure includes Resource Working Groups responsible for developing operational plans and coordination between City departments and partner agencies to ensure successful implementation of the many activities related to the Super Bowl.
Members of the Steering Committee will provide a preliminary summary of the related events that took place.
