Report

Summary

The Arizona Thrives Task Force, consisting of over 20 Arizona utilities, cities, non-profits and leading businesses, has worked to develop a common vision for the state of Arizona to advance clean air, clean energy, and a thriving economy. To achieve this vision the Task Force is now calling on companies, local governments, organizations and individuals to join the Arizona Thrives Alliance in support of the consensus guiding principles, and take actions in support of the Arizona Thrives goals to:

  • foster innovation and make infrastructure investment in both rural and urban communities;
  • demonstrate and scale-up emerging technologies;
  • improve livability in our communities and mitigating the impacts of heat and poor air quality;
  • positively impact the health of our most vulnerable populations; and
  • improve water security and sustainability.

The Arizona Thrives Alliance exists to communicate the importance of these goals and serve as a catalyst for action and collaboration needed to achieve them, including encouraging innovation around policy and practices, elevating public education and engagement, and creating a progress dashboard.

The original case statement for Arizona Thrives and the members of the Task Force is included as Attachment A. The goals and vision of Arizona Thrives align with the City of Phoenix General Plan and 2050 sustainability goals. Joining the Alliance affirms the City’s commitment to work with participating organizations toward the shared vision of clean air, clean energy and a thriving economy.

Financial Impact

There is no financial requirement to join the Alliance; it is voluntary, and the Alliance recognizes that each participant retains its ability to make decisions and take actions relevant to its own organization.
