Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, to execute amendments to Contract 156286 with A P Fire Protection, LLC and Contract 156296 RCI Systems - LLC, to provide additional funding for backflow assembly testing, repair and replacement services. Further request to authorize the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item. The additional expenditures included in the amendments will not exceed $1,732,080.

Summary

The purpose of these amendments is to provide additional funding for backflow assembly testing, repair and replacement services. Additional backflow devices requiring annual testing and inspection, as well as repair services for several devices, have resulted in increased contract usage and associated costs.

 

Contract Term

The contract expires on May 31, 2027, with no remaining option years.

 

Financial Impact

The initial authorization for the contracts had an aggregate contract value of $5,395,400. Additional funds approved by previous City Council action increased the aggregate contract value to $5,590,400. These amendments will increase the authorization for the contracts by an additional $1,732,080, for a new aggregate contract value of $7,322,480. Funding for these amendments is available in the Water Services and Public Works departments' operating budgets.

 

Concurrence/Previous Council Action

The City Council previously approved Backflow Assembly Testing, Repair and Replacement Services Contracts 156286 and 156296 (Ordinance S-48563) on May 11, 2022. The City Council approved additional funding for the contracts (Ordinance S-52812) on May 6, 2026.
