Description
Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into contracts with Team Marathon Fitness, Inc.; Fitness 4 Home Superstore, Inc.; and Johnson Health Tech Retail, Inc to provide fitness equipment with related accessories and services for the Phoenix Fire Department. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item. The total value of the contracts will not exceed $722,876.

Summary
These contracts will allow the Fire Department to continue to provide exercise and conditioning equipment in the fire stations and facility gym settings throughout the City in support of the health and wellness of the firefighters. Exercise and conditioning equipment are utilized by the firefighters to meet and maintain National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements as part of the medical and physical fitness conditioning levels needed to perform essential job tasks. These contracts will provide fitness/conditioning equipment of various makes, sizes, models and uses on an as-needed basis. Replacement equipment will be consistent in model and specifications with existing aerobic/fitness conditioning equipment.
Procurement Information
In accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10, standard competition was waived as a result of an approved Determination Memo based on the following reason: Special Circumstances Alternative Competition. The City of Tempe Fitness Request for Proposal #25-027 Equipment for Fire Station #2 contracts were awarded through a competitive process consistent with the City's procurement requirements. The contracts will be utilized to purchase various types of fitness equipment such as stair climbers, treadmills, kettle balls, and assorted weights for the Phoenix Fire Departments. Utilization of these cooperative contracts allows the City to benefit from national government pricing and volume discounts.
Contract Term
The contract will begin on or about September 1, 2026, for a one-year term with three one-year options to extend.
Financial Impact
The aggregate contract value will not exceed $722,876 for the four-year aggregate term.
Funding is available in the Fire Department's budget.
