Description
To comply with provisions in AFSCME Local 2960's current Memorandum of Understanding, the Human Resources Department conducted a study of the classification of Police Asst*Special Detail for positions assigned as “Detention Officers”. In accordance with the recommendation of Human Resources Committee 603, the Human Resources Department is requesting the following actions:
Create the classification of Detention Officer, Code 62130, Salary Plan 006, Grade 328 ($3245 - $4727)
Reallocate position numbers 00097010, 00097012, 00097013, 00097016, 00097017, 00097018, 00097019, 00097020, 00097021, 00097023, 00097047, 00097048, 00097050, 00097051, 00097052, 00097053, 00097054 and 00097055 from Police Asst*Special Detail, Code 62162, Salary Plan 006, Grade 326 ($2976 - $4319) to Detention Officer, Code 62130, Salary Plan 006, Grade 328 ($3245 - $4727).

Summary
Positions assigned to the detention role were audited to assess the current roles, responsibilities and working conditions. Additionally, staff met with sworn personnel in the supervisory chain to discuss the roles and usage of the positions.
Financial Impact
The estimated cost of these actions for a full fiscal year, including benefits, is $17,871.
