Description
For $100,000.00 in additional payment authority for Contract 144922 for independent medical evaluations for the Retirement Office. The number and complexity of applications submitted has increased from previous years, requiring additional funds. Independent medical evaluations are used when either the City of Phoenix Employees' Retirement System Board, Disability Assessment Committee, or the Local Police and Fire Retirement Boards require information to determine the eligibility of individuals for a disability retirement. Further, state statute requires all public safety members who have filed an application for disability retirement be referred for an independent medical evaluation by a board-certified, Arizona licensed physician to determine if they meet the criteria listed in Arizona Revised Statutes, section 38-859.
