Authorization to Enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Town of Gilbert for Law Enforcement Training Operations (Ordinance S-52318) - Out of City

 

Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, to allow the Police Department to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Town of Gilbert for cooperative law enforcement training operations. Also request, under the authority of Phoenix City Code section 42-20, the City Council to waive indemnification and liability requirements of Phoenix City Code section 42-18.

Summary

Acceptance of the IGA would allow the Gilbert Police Department (GPD) and Phoenix Police Department (PPD) to conduct joint law enforcement training or attend law enforcement training hosted by either party. Such training may include, but is not limited to, recruit and in-service academy training and specialty schools for both sworn and civilian personnel.

 

Contract Term

The IGA will terminate June 30, 2030, with an option to renew for two additional years under the same terms and conditions, including any adopted amendments in effect at the time of renewal.
