Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a contract with Kary Environmental Services to provide pick up and decontamination of medical equipment services for the Fire Department in an amount not to exceed $375,000. Further request authorization for the City Controller to disburse all funds related to this item.

Summary

The Fire Department utilizes pick up and decontamination of medical equipment services for emergency medical equipment, such as backboards, Kendrick Extrication Device (KED) devices, ambulance gurneys, carryalls, splints and hare traction devices from hospital rooms and other facilities. The items are picked up, cleaned, decontaminated, and returned to the Fire Department. This service is critical to the operations of the Fire Department in order to pick up and transport patients to hospital emergency rooms and other facilities. 

 

Procurement Information

IFB 18-087, Pick Up and Decontamination of Medical Equipment - Requirements Contract was conducted in accordance with Administrative Regulation 3.10. The solicitation was emailed to 162 vendors and was posted on the City's website. Three offers were received by the Procurement Division on Aug. 10, 2018.

 

The Deputy Finance Director recommends that the offer for Kary Environmental Services be accepted as the lowest-priced, responsive and responsible offer.

 

Contract Term

The contract term will begin on or about Jan. 1, 2019 and end on or about Dec. 31, 2024.

 

Financial Impact

Expenditures against this contract will not exceed the aggregate amount of $375,000. Funds are available in the Fire Department's budget.
