Authorization to Amend Contract with the Arizona Community Action Association dba Wildfire (Ordinance S-53127) - Citywide

 

Description

Request to authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to amend Contract 165777 with the Arizona Community Action Association dba Wildfire, to accept $200,000 in additional Salt River Project emergency utility assistance funding and $1 million of Weidner Rental Assistance funding, for a new contract total of $2,233,032. Further request authorization for the City Treasurer to accept, and the City Controller to disburse, all funds related to this item. There is no impact to the General Fund.

Summary

This amendment will provide additional funding for emergency utility assistance to low-income individuals and families in Phoenix, allowing the Human Services Department to serve approximately 560 additional households. It will also add the Weidner Rental Assistance funding, provided by Weidner Property Management, LLC and administered by Wildfire, to support current and former tenants of Weidner properties. These funds will provide up to two months of rental assistance to eligible residents at their current residence, with payments not to exceed $6,000 per resident.

 

Contract Term

The contract term remains unchanged, which began on July 1, 2026 and ends on June 30, 2027.

 

Financial Impact

The new contract total will not exceed $2,233,032. There is no impact to the General Fund.

 

Concurrence/Previous Council Action

City Council approved Contract 165777 (Ordinance S-53023) on June 17, 2026.
